Road use fees put on hold

February 12, 2013

Howard County commissioners agreed Monday morning to submit a road use agreement recently adopted by the court to the Texas Attorney General's office in an effort to clarify how the new law will affect area oil transport and trucking companies.

The road use agreement was adopted by commissioners on a unanimous vote in late-December in an effort to help fund much-needed repairs to county roadways damaged by the increase in truck traffic generated by the recent boom in the oil field.

Trickle of candidates in area ISD races

February 12, 2013

The pace of candidate filing for area school races continues to be slow, officials announced.

As of this morning, only four candidates — all incumbents — have filed applications with their respective school districts.

Candidate filings continue through March 1, officials said.

At Forsan ISD, Chris Evans and Tom Bill Kuykendall filed for re-election, while incumbents Daniel Ramos and Darren Patrick will seek another term on the Stanton ISD board.

Area school districts holding elections this may include (terms are for three years unless otherwise noted):
