County to consider selling property

June 1, 2013

A pair of executive sessions — one concerning county-owned property and one dealing with a personnel issue for the Howard County Sheriff's Office — await county commissioners Monday afternoon, as the court prepares to hold a special meeting.
The first executive session deals with real estate (county-owned property) pursuant to Texas Government Coade 551.072 and commissioners may take action on the matter once they return to open court.

BSHS choir students bring home gold - lots of it

If there was any doubt this has been a highly successful year for the Big Spring High School choir program, the medal haul from this week's state solo and ensemble contest belied those concerns.
A record 18 gold medals were won by BSHS choir students at the University Interscholastic League's Solo and Ensemble Contest, held earlier this week at the University of Texas in Austin, BSHS Choir Director Anna Gann said.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. May 31, 2013 and 7 a.m. today:
• KATRINA MITCHEL BAKER, 39, of 804 Andree St., was arrested Friday on warrants for expired registration and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
• ANTHONY ALPHONSO LEWIS, 41, of 809 E. 15th St., was arrested Friday on a warrant from another agency.
• ADRIAN RODRIGEZ, 34, of 1605 Harding St., was arrested Friday on a warrant for delivery of a controlled substance less than 1 gram in a drug free zone.
