Big Spring Independent School District trustees will soon begin searching in earnest for a new superintendent.
Current Superintendent Steven Saldivar, who headed BSISD since 2008, announced Tuesday he will be leaving within the next few weeks to accept a similar position with Anthony ISD. Saldivar's hiring at Anthony is expected to become official Aug. 20.
âHe helped our school district,â Board President Irene Rodriguez said. âI have nothing but good things to say about Steven ⊠and I wish him and his family the best at Anthony.â
The tradition stays alive as the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County gear up for the 69th annual campaign kick-off Aug. 17 at the Big Spring Country Club, starting at 6 p.m.
âAs always, the entire board is ready to jump feet first into what we are expecting to be another successful campaign,â said Ann McClarty, United Way of Big Spring and Howard County president.
Tickets are $25 per person. Due to the venue, there will be limited seating. The evening will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, live music from Freeride and a silent auction.
