Cap and gown time is back.
Howard College and SouthWest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf will kick start graduation season in the Crossroads area when the institutions hold commencement exercises this week.
SWCID's annual awards convocation, which honors the top students on campus, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the college's activity center.
The top award to be handed out Thursday will be the President's Award, given to the the top student at SWCID. The student is nominated by faculty members and selected by a vote of administrators.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
â€¢ ANTONIO BOSSI, 27, of Joshua, Texas, was arrested Tuesday on charges of resisting arrest, search or transportation and theft â€“ more than $50 and less than $500.
â€¢ DAVID COLE HORN, 19, of Burleson, Texas, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of theft â€“ more than $50 and less than $500.
â€¢ NIKKI LYNN BERNAL, 17, of 804 Willia, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of theft â€“ more than $50 and less than $500.
Law enforcement officials are searching for a masked man who allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store during the early morning hours Sunday.
According to Sgt. Tony Everett, public information officer with the Big Spring Police Department, the suspect entered the 7-Eleven convenience store in the 900 block of Willia just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Driving past road work projects on Third and Fourth streets may be an inconvenience, but rest assured it's not exactly a walk in the park for the workers involved, either.
Paving just a small section of one of Big Spring's downtown streets is hot, smelly and exacting work, requiring the use of high-dollar specialized equipment and the labors of more than a dozen workers at a time, all to lay a strip of two-inch deep asphalt the length of a city block.

â€¢ JOSE LUIS RIVERA, 25, of 1900 Martin Luther King Blvd. Apt. 303, was arrested Monday on a warrant from another agency.
â€¢ SAM PENA JR., 33, of 208 N. Nolan, was arrested Monday on a warrant from another agency.
â€¢ JUAN GILBERT HINOJOSA, 41, of 610 Linda Lane, was arrested Monday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
â€¢ JOSHUA DAVID DECKER, 23, of Stanton, Texas, was arrested Monday on warrants for speeding and failure to appear.
The Big Spring City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday evening to discuss a a short list of items, including an executive session to consider the duties and evaluation of the city manager and to deliberate regarding Colonial Hills Estates.
According to the meeting agenda, District 6 Councilman Marvin Boyd is expected to deliver an update from the city's newly appointed employee retention committee, while Interim Police Chief Chad Williams will discuss special recognition plaques planned for the Troy M. Hogue Joint Law Enforcement Center.
As area students hungrily await the end of the school year, many parents are faced with a child care dilemma during the summer months.
However, the Salvation Army's Boys and Girls Club has an answer, as the local charity prepares to kick off its annual summer program June 10.
Boys and Girls Club program director Duane Shackelford said the program is expected to serve approximately 120 to 140 area children between the ages of 5 years and 18 years, and with a new facility ready to go, the program will have even more to offer this year.

â€¢ MARTIN LEE BENTACUR, 45, of 215 N.E. Ninth St., was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.

Andrew Martinez and his son Cruz Granado took advantage of the spring-like weather at the Big Spring Lake in Comanche Trail Park. Despite expected freezing temperatures Saturday morning, the conditions were mild and the fish were biting.

â€¢ JASON WAYNE ENGLISH, 35, transient, was arrested Friday on a warrant for criminal trespass â€“ property, building, aircraft, vehicle.
â€¢ CHRISTOPHER RYAN COLEGROVE, 21, of 807 16th St., was arrested Friday on a warrant from another agency for consumption of alcohol by a minor and failure to appear.
â€¢ DANIEL RAY LEWIS, 24, of 106 Carey, was arrested Friday on a warrant from another agency.
