Stock show under way

January 8, 2014

It's definitely stock show season in the Crossroads area.
The Howard County Junior Livestock Show officially got under way this morning with weigh in of the lambs, followed by weigh in of the goats. Following that, the lamb show is set for 3 p.m. with the goat show to follow.

Soup cook-off coming

Martin County's annual Great Texas Soup Cook-Off, a benfit to restore the historic Carmelite Monastery, will be held Saturday, Feb. 15.

Stock show moves to new location

January 7, 2014

Area youths will show off months of work as the Howard County Junior Stock Show is set to begin Wednesday.
This year, the stock show will be held at the G.C. Broughton Ag Complex for the first time. The complex is located on the Howard College campus between the east side of Memorial Stadium and the west side of Foundation Softball Field.

Council members to pay summary judgement

January 7, 2014

A case that has been years in the courts was resolved for the most part Monday in a summary judgement passed down by 118th District Judge Tim Yeats.
The result will cost Big Spring City Council members Marcus Fernandez and Glen Carrigan and local business firms Quad A and Hydro Dynamics several thousand dollars.

Property taxes due by end of month

Howard County omeowners have until Jan. 31 to pay their tax bills without penalties or interest, said Diane Carter, county tax assessor/collector.
