With federal aid, BSPD puts bad boys behind bars

Utilizing federal resources, the Big Spring Police Department has successfully investigated a number of high-profile cases, to include the sales of narcotics, firearms violations and child pornography cases over the past two years.

From January 2012 to the present, BSPD has worked with federal agencies, Homeland Security out of San Angelo and ATF out of Lubbock, to provide services to the citizens of Big Spring.

Unexplained fire burns eight acres

It’s a good time for a burn ban.

As Howard County heads into the windy days of March, a reminder of the necessity of a recently approved burn ban kept volunteer firefighters busy for parts of Wednesday and Thursday.

The fire, located northeast of Big Spring just off N. FM 700 close to Sandy Draw, first flared around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
