Krabill to take reins at SMMC

Scenic Mountain Medical Center has appointed Emma Krabill chief executive officer, effective immediately. Krabill has been serving as interim CEO since early October.

Krabill was previously chief operating officer of San Angelo Community Medical Center for the past five years, a 171-bed hospital in San Angelo, Texas, where she also served as interim CEO. She has worked in various roles over her 13-year healthcare career, beginning on the clinical side as a licensed physical therapist assistant and quickly progressing into leadership positions of increasing responsibility.

Much like the employees of the post office Delores Albert sits adjacent to, neither rain nor sleet — nor complaints — have kept her from her appointed rounds.

For the past 15 years, Albert and her Salvation Army Christmas kettle have been holiday fixtures at the Big Spring post office. She has made a few concessions to age over the years, but her presence has been a December constant.

Council agrees on pact for railway expansion

They’ll be working on the railroad … some more.

During their Tuesday meeting, Big Spring City Council members unanimously approved a performance agreement with the local Economic Development Corporation that will result in expansion of the railroad spur at McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark.

BSHS presents ‘Christmas Carol’ Thursday to public

The Big Spring High School’s top actors will tackle a timeless Christmas classic in their next production “A Christmas Carol,” by Charles Dickens.

“This is a radio version so there will not be any scenery or costumes but we will have sound effects,” said Chelsea Prettyman, high school theater teacher. “The actors are going to have to play several different parts and will have to change up their voices to fit the part they are playing.

A public performance will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the high school auditorium, 707 E. 11th Place. There is no admission fee.

TxDOT touts ‘Sober Ride’ campaign

As holiday festivities get into full swing, the Texas Department of Transportation reminds drivers to stay safe and sober when traveling to and from parties and other celebrations.

“We want drivers to have fun over the holidays, but more importantly, we want them to celebrate responsibly,” said TxDOT Executive Director Lt. Gen Joe Weber, USMC (Ret). “Make a sober ride part of your plans and don’t let one bad choice ruin the holidays for you and your family.”
