Water woes

August 26, 2015

Low water pressure caused by a 20-inch main break is forcing both Big Spring High School and Howard Cottage to close for the day.
According to George Bancroft, BSISD community relations coordinator, only the high school campus is closed today because of the water issue.
"All other campuses in the Big Spring ISD are open and conducting business as usual," he said. "District officials will communicate with the Texas Education Agency to determine if or when it will be necessary for students to make-up the lost instructional time."

Rotarians' annual duck race Saturday

August 19, 2015

The McEwen Family Aquatic Center will be overrun with ducks Saturday — hundreds of plastic ducks.

Not to worry, though, this friendly invasion is for a good cause — the Greater Big Spring Rotary Club's annual duck race will raise money for the Isaiah 58 food bank and other local charities.

And if the duck you purchase is one of those "trapped" during Saturday's race, you could win, also.
