Kevin Kyle Shoemaker, 53, of Stanton died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, in a Midland hospital. His services are pending with Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.

J.V. Anderson, 93, of Big Spring died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with the Rev. Carroll Kohl officiating.
He was born Nov. 12, 1917. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a medic in the Calvary. He married Maxine McGee on Jan. 18, 1941. They owned several businesses in Big Spring. She preceded him in death Jan. 12, 2006. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Victor Garza, 81, of Big Spring died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
He was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Karnes City, Texas, and married Aurora Perez on Nov. 23, 1947, in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death May 11, 1993.

Robert 'Pepper' Martin

Robert “Pepper” Martin, 89, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011. Pepper was born July 22, 1922, in Big Spring. He eloped with his high school sweetheart, Hope Sisson, in 1941. From 1943 to 1945 he served in the South Pacific during World War II.
A minor league baseball player and manager early in life, Pepper made his career in bowling and was instrumental in starting Columbia Bowling Industries. Later in life, Pepper developed a passion for horses and opened Alamo Stud Farm.
After the death of his wife in 1995, Pepper married Beth Holden in 1997.

James (Jim) Henry Buhrkuhl, 71, of Big Spring died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Family and friends will gather at Myers & Smith Funeral Home on Oct. 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born Aug. 16, 1940, in Amarillo, Texas, to Henry August Buhrkuhl Jr. and Alice Hurst Rosser Buhrkuhl. He moved to Big Spring in 1969 where he started raising cattle with his wife Ann.

Filomeno T. "F.T." Franco Jr., 68, of Big Spring died Monday, October 24, 2011, in an Odessa hospital. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church). Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Aug. 24, 1943, in Marfa, Texas, and owned and operated Franco Concrete for 40 years, until becoming ill about 10 years ago.
