Rheba Guy McCartney, 81, of Amory, Miss., passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Oak Tree Plantation in Amory. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, located at 3349 N. 12th St., Abilene, Texas, with Brother Butch Pesch officiating. A time of visitation will follow immediately after services. Private graveside rites at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery will precede the memorial service.
Elizar Cantu, 68, of Ackerly died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at his residence. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Chaplain Larry Hood officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Ackerly.
Selestino “Pepe” Hernandez, 61, of Big Spring died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at his residence. Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Joey Bacon officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
He was born March 1, 1950, in San Angelo to Dominga and Jesus Hernandez. He had been a cook at Furr’s Cafeteria for many years and was a lifetime resident of Big Spring.
Glen R. Overton, 80, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the family receiving friends immediately following the service. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
He was born June 2, 1931, in Big Spring to Fannie and James Overton. He worked in construction in Arizona for 35 years. He married Frances Edens on Oct. 9, 1993. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Elisa A. Hart, 36, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Alvah Ruth Hollis, 80, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at her residence. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
