Boyd Don Batla, 28, of San Antonio, Texas passed into eternity on Nov. 23, 2012, at his home. He was born April 18, 1984, in Rankin, Texas to Garry and Darla Batla.
Boyd was a proud graduate of Garden City High School, where he excelled in a variety of sports and other UIL activities. As a crowning high school accomplishment, Boyd earned the recognition of valedictorian for the class of 2002. He continued his education at Texas Tech University, where he graduated an avid Red Raider fan with academic honors added to his list of achievements.
John J. Eckley, 81, of Big Spring, Texas, died Nov. 20, 2012, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, N.D., with the Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery south of Mandan, with military honors provided by the VFW Post No. 707 and American Legion Post No. 40.
Clifford Hale Jr., born Nov. 29, 1926, went to be with his Lord on Nov. 24, 2012. Memorial Service will be held at First Methodist Church at a later date.
Clifford was born in Waco, Texas, to Lilly and Clifford Hale and was raised from age 14 by his beloved stepfather, Bob Spence. At 17, he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was deployed to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, helping with cleanup.
