November 12th
Tony Sawyer, 56, of Lenorah, Texas, departed from this world to be face to face with the Lord on Nov. 9, 2012. A lifelong cotton farmer and resident of Lenorah, Tony graduated from Grady High School in 1974 and served on the Grady School Board for several years. With a good will, he served his community of friends as a member of the Tarzan Co-op Gin Board, Millholland Board, Martin County Water District Board, Martin County Appraisal Board, National Sporting Clay Association and the Lenorah Volunteer Fire Department.
Allan Jay Hoover, 89, of Big Spring died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, in Cedar Park. Memorial services with military honors will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Ivins, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
He was born Nov. 30, 1922, in DuBois, Pa., and married Lucy Belle Sparks on Sept. 3, 1943, in Big Spring. She preceded him in death Aug. 25, 2012.
November 10th
Brenda Mercer, 68, Midland, passed away Nov. 8, 2012, in Midland after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Velma R. (Nurse) Wood, 86, of Coahoma, Texas, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Coahoma. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Coahoma, Texas and married Roney Lathan Wood May 26, 1946, in Coahoma, Texas. He preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1989.
Nena Grenon, 81, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.
November 9th
James King Bowers, 58, of Big Spring passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2012. He was born Nov. 6, 1953, in Washington, D.C. to Charles and Patricia (King) Bowers. He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years before retiring.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Cahoon; two sons, Elmer Bowers and wife Lacy of Buckeye, Ariz., and Zachary Bowers and wife Stephanie of Mesa, Ariz.,; seven grandchildren, Saretta, Desmond, Hannah, Logan, Ava, Aurora and Sasha Bowers.
Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at 1605 E. I-20 in Big Spring.

Edwina Baggett Welch-Reagan, 87, of Big Spring died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the funeral home.
Nancy Brehm, 48, of Big Spring died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Doug Shelley, pastor of East Side Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
She was born June 26, 1964, in Chipley, Fla., to Lucy and Robert Killcrease. She lived most of her life in Big Spring and was a housekeeper. She was a Baptist.
