Joseph Steward Bentley

EULA – Joseph Steward Bentley, 92, died Jan. 6, 2012, at his home. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at the Eula United Methodist Church with Bob Karlin officiating, assisted by Kerry Patton. Burial will follow in the Eula Cemetery under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mamie Lee Merrick

Our beloved mother, who was a devoted wife, grandmother and friend, Mamie Lee Merrick, 99, of Ackerly went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at 4:28 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Bud Duggins officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at the funeral home.

Lonnie Ferrell Anderson, 70, of Coahoma died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the Coahoma Church of Christ with Eddy Pitchford officiating.
The family will receive friends following the services.

Lonnie was born March 9, 1941, in Big Spring to Luther and Vera (Neal) Anderson and married Mary Kiser on Oct. 7, 1960, in Coahoma. Together, they owned and operated the Little Sooper Market in Coahoma. He was a member of Coahoma Church of Christ.

Norma Geneva Wheeler

January 7, 2012

Norma Geneva Wheeler of Big Spring was reunited with her husband, Joe Max Wheeler, in Heaven on Thursday evening, Jan. 5, 2012. Norma peacefully passed away at Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock with her twin sons, Ronald and Donald, standing at her side. Norma was the eighth and youngest child born to Albert and May Shortes in the Brown Community on their family farm close to Ackerly, Texas, on Aug. 2, 1924.

Robert Roesberry, 78, of Midland, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. Services will be held at a later date in Las Vegas.
Survivors include wife Elizabeth Roesberry; sons, Daniel Roesberry and Lewis Roesberry; daughters, Ellen Roesberry Myers (Jon) and Roberta Roesberry Rushton (Jody); sisters, Ida Wolllum and Cora Fae Roesberry; brothers, Charley Roesberry and Max Roesberry.

Ruth Robinson

Ruth Robinson, 93, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Binnix, officiating.
The family will receive friends following the services.
She was born March 9, 1918, in Hereford, Texas, and married Woodrow Robinson in 1942, in Howard County. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Marion Newton, Jr., 67, of Big Spring, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m, Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Ray and the Rev. Mike Couch officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery. 
He was born June 5, 1944, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Sherry Thomas on Dec. 17, 1966, in Big Spring.

Marion Newton, Jr., 67, of Big Spring, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m, Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Pat Ray and the Rev. Mike Couch officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery. 
He was born June 5, 1944, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Sherry Thomas on Dec. 17, 1966, in Big Spring.

Olga DeAnda Chávez, a lifelong resident of Big Spring, passed away Jan. 4, 2012, in the loving care of family and friends. She courageously fought a battle with cancer for 10 months.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
