Judy Hokett, 80, of Big Spring, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, in Lubbock. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Federico âFredâ Salgado, 62, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at his nieceâs residence. Vigil services and memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel, with Deacon Johnny Arguello officiating.
He was born Nov. 13, 1949, in Vealmoor, Texas, to Virginia and Cirilo Salgado. He has been a lifetime resident of Howard County. He married Alice Jimenez on June 26, 1971, in Midland, Texas. She preceded him in death Jan. 14, 2009. He was a self-employed carpet layer for more than 40 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Bob Hicks, 72, of Coahoma, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at his residence. Memorial celebration services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Coahoma. His friend and pastor, Tom Koger, will officiate and his life long friend, Karl Hoppess of Houston, will give a brief eulogy.

LeRoy Headrick, 87, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Walter McCall officiating. Entombment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Seward County, Kan., and married Emma Jane Wallace on Aug. 28, 1943, in Montezuma, Kan.
Jimmy Lee Newsom, 80, went home to Heaven on Feb. 7, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Cotton and the Rev. Wade Cobb, nephew, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Marty Lane Nixon of Denton, Texas, passed away at his residence after a long illness Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012. He was 47 years old.
Marty was born Sept. 8, 1964, in Big Spring, Texas. He enjoyed cooking, working in the yard and building things.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Denton Funeral Home. A graveside service will directly follow at 3:30 p.m. at Sanger Cemetery in Sanger, Texas.
Gail Whitney Legg, 94, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.
She was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Denison, Texas, to Loy Grace and George W. Whitney. She graduated from St. Xavier Academy and Our Lady of Victory College in Fort Worth, Texas. She came to Big Spring in 1933 from Ft. Worth.

Matthew David Jones of Odessa, 26, passed away Thursday morning Feb. 2, 2012, while sleeping peacefully at home.
Before falling into ill health, Matt was an exceptionally energetic young man with the world at his fingertips. Handsome, smart, strong, entertaining, and funny are some of the words used to describe him when he was at his best.
Matthew received Jesus as his Savior at an early age. He worshiped at Antioch Christian Church and Crossroads.
