Donald Wheat, 67, of Big Spring, Texas died Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, in a Lubbock hospital. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Bakers Chapel AME, 911 N. Lancaster in Big Spring with the Rev. Holston Banks II officiating.
Donald was born March 31, 1946, in Nixon, Texas. He graduated from Big Spring High School and moved to Denver, Colo., and worked in the steel mills where he retired and then moved back to Big Spring.
Royal Daniel Padden Sr., 55, of Big Spring died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Midland Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Masonic Rites will be by Staked Plains Lodge 598, A.F. & A.M.
He was born Sept. 1, 1958, to Kay and Ray Padden in Elk Rapids, Mich. He was a resident of the community for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodges in Big Spring and Alpine. He was a transport truck driver and worked for R.J. Machine.
Patricia âPattiâ Wilson Smith, 53, of Coahoma died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel.
She was born March 4, 1960, in Petaluma, Calif., to Marie and Elmer Wilson. She spent most all of her life in Howard County. She worked as a homemaker and housekeeper. She married Mark Smith June 14, 1994, in Canyon Lake.
Thelma Rains, 84, of Amarillo, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, in Llano Mausoleum Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Thelma was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Brownsville to May Belle and Dee House. She grew up in Paris, Texas, and graduated from Paris High School and attended Paris Junior College. She met the love of her life, John William âBillâ Rains on the steps of Paris High School after WWII. They were married on May 8, 1948, in Austin, Texas, and were together for 62 years.
Clarence D. Hays, 82, of St. Pete, Fla., formerly of Big Spring passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at his residence after a two-year battle with lung cancer.
He was born July 16, 1931, in Mitchell County, Texas, to Tennie and W.D. Hays. Clarence was a member of United Methodist Church in Coahoma. He graduated from Coahoma High School in 1948. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and retired July 31, 1971. While serving our country, he received three commendation medals.
Donald Roy Cloud departed this life on Sunday evening at his home in College Station. Don was preceded in death by his parents Roy Cloud and Esther Barr Cloud and his daughter Courtney Cloud. Don is survived by his wife Fan Barber Cloud; his three sons Blake Cloud and Linda, Scott Cloud and Diane, and Mark Cloud and Michelle. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer and Kenneth Cloud, Bradley Cloud, and
Lillian and Cameron Cloud and by two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Emily Cloud.
