A funeral service for Donna Jo Hedges, 54, of Big Spring will be held Monday, March 25, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Crestview Baptist Church with Gerald Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Donna passed away Thursday March 23, 2013, in Big Spring. She was born Dec. 7, 1958, in San Angelo to Thomas Ray and Nita (Sikes) Mathis. She married Mark Hedges on Oct. 28, 2006, in Big Spring. Donna’s grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished each minute spent with them. She loved to travel as often as possible.

Alan L. “Skinny” Higgins of Lubbock, formerly of Plainview and Big Spring passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the age of 86. Skinny married Geneva Merle McKee on March 5, 1948. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Skinny retired in 2010 after 59 years in the cotton industry.
James Edward Baker passed from this world Monday, March 18, 2013, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Lamesa Memorial Park in Lamesa.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the funeral home.
James was born to Mae Etheline Parker and Charles Edward Baker on Oct. 16, 1941, in Lamesa, Texas. He was raised in Lamesa by his mother and stepfather, Odes Anderson.

Bonnie Miears, 60, of Big Spring went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Elwin Collom officiating.
Bonnie was born Sept. 28, 1952, in Garden City, Mich., to Bon Lloyd Brackney and Dorothy Whitfield. She married Gary Miears on July 31, 1988, in Big Spring.
J.O. “Jim” Murphy, 76, of Big Spring died Monday, March 18, 2013. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Big Spring to Mildred and James Murphy Sr. He married Donna Chaney on March 1, 1978. She preceded him in death Oct. 9, 2008.
Jim was a lifetime resident of Big Spring and worked 33 years at Cosden and later Fina, retiring in 1992. During that time, he also owned A-1 Plumbing.
Helen Louise McDonald was born Dec. 1, 1927, to John and Anne Gregg and passed away March 15, 2013, in Irving, Texas.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Donna Fish and husband John and Kay Clark and husband Allan; brother, Doyle Gregg; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Dolly Dollar; three brothers, Ward, Robert and Harold; and her husband, James McDonald.
Helen worked at Mobil Oil for 30 years. She then retired to Cedar Creek Lake at the age of 55.
Jo Ann Capps, 73, of Big Spring died Monday, March 18, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Vealmoor Cemetery.
She was born March 29, 1939, in Melrose, N.M., to Mary Belle and C.L. “Bill” Watson. Jo Ann married Jack E. Capps in Levelland on Nov. 10, 1955.

James was born Oct. 16, 1941, in Lamesa, Texas, and married Opal Jean Teague on June 11, 1961.

James "Jimmy" Pedigo, 82, of Big Spring died Saturday, March 16, 2013, in the local veterans home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Bob Heneghan officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Monahans, Texas, and married Frances Janelle Riggins on Feb. 12, 1954, in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death July 22, 2009.
Dewey Byers, 78, of Big Spring died Friday, March 15, 2013, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Mona Lue Tonn officiating.
He was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Big Spring, Texas, and attended Big Spring schools, graduating in 1954. He worked for the City of Big Spring for 34 years, retiring as chief inspector.
Survivors include two brothers, Melvin Byers and wife Shirley of Siloam Springs, Ark., and James Byers and wife Laverne of Kingsland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
