Charles D. Herring, Jr., 96, of Big Spring, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the Mt. Olive Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ivins, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

He was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Big Spring, Texas and married Mozelle James July 5, 1941, in Big Spring, Texas.

Alvis Kenneth Harry

Funeral services for Alvis Kenneth Harry, 78, of North Richland Hills will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Weever to officiate. Burial will follow at Smithfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Alvis Harry, loving husband, father granddad and friend entered his heavenly home Oct. 14, 2013. He was born Jan. 26, 1935, to S.M. and Faye Woods Harry in Lamesa, Texas. He worked construction many years and retired from Birdville Independant School District in 2001.

Elmer Lee Yarbrough

Elmer Lee Yarbrough, 78, of Forsan, Texas, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Darren Weaver and Derrick Looney, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Stamford and married Loretta Turner Nov. 6, 1959, in Big Spring, Texas.

Vinnie Joan Mosley

Vinnie Joan Mosley left this earth to her eternal heavenly home with Jesus on Oct. 13, 2013. Affectionately called “Nanny,” she loved gardening and her cats (or any other stray cat, deer, raccoon, fox, etc. that showed up in her yard.)

Joan was born on July 10, 1929, in DeLeon, Texas, to Jim and Parolee Foster. She graduated from Carbon High School in 1946, amongst a senior class of eight. She graduated from Tarleton University in 1969. She retired from teaching at Burnet CISD in 1989.

Vivian Kerr

Vivian Kerr, 53, of Big Spring, Texas died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Private family services will be at a later date.

She was born Jan. 12, 1960, at Tahoka, Texas, to Jimeree and Robert Permenter. She was a lifetime resident of Howard and Glasscock counties. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. She married Kenneth Kerr Aug. 15, 1980, in Big Spring.

Ruby Langford Fowler passed away peacefully Oct. 10, 2013. Ruby was born Oct. 2, 1928, in Sterling City, Texas to Jesse J. Langford and Samantha Davis Langford, both deceased. Brother Marvin Langford also predeceases her.

James "Fats" Johnson, 68, of Big Spring, Texas died Thursday Oct. 10, 2013, at Midland Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Holston Banks and Marcos Zuniga officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

Wanda Ann Chaney, 65, of Eden, Texas passed away Oct. 11, 2013. Graveside service is 2 p.m. Oct.14, 2013, in Eden Cemetery, under the direction of Eden Funeral Home.
Survivors include her father, Lawrence Allen of Big Spring, Texas; son, Charles Carmack of Eden; two daughters, Cynthia Moore of Wichita, Kan., and Cheryl Carmack of Abilene, Texas; two brothers, Sidney Allen of Robert Lee and Ronnie Allen of Miles; one sister, Sue Pfifer of Hamilton; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Esther Haggard, 94, of Stanton, Texas died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, in at Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stanton. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.
A vigil service will be 7 p.m., Monday, Oct.14, 2013, at the funeral home.
She was born March 4, 1919, in New Orleans, La., and married Robert Haggard Aug.19, 1938, in Houston, Texas. He preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1996.
