Manuel C. Cervantes Jr., 61, of Big Spring, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
Mary Z. Hale, 89, of Coahoma died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Snyder Oaks Care Center. The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born April 24, 1924, in Ackerly, Texas, to Winnie Mae (Whitmire) and John Bledsoe. She married Jess Franklin on Aug. 9, 1941, and he died March 5, 1975. She then married Tolbert (Tollie) Hale on Feb. 14, 1981, and he preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1995.
Leta Mae Normand, 83, of Big Spring died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, in Millersview Cemetery in Millersview, Texas.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Neal of El Paso and Dianne Harris of Shawnee, Kan.; one son, David Normand of Big Spring; one brother, Victor Jones of Ben Brook; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

John Robert "Bob" Scott, 83, of Big Spring, Texas, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Big Spring with the Dr. Ken McIntosh and the Rev. Clark Ford officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4 p. Tuesday at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Edna Smith, longtime resident of Big Spring and Snyder, Texas, died July 28, 2013, after several years of suffering from Alzheimerâ€™s Disease. She was a faithful member at First Christian Church in Big Spring and at First Baptist Church in Snyder. Edna was much loved and never met a stranger.
Carol Ruth Thomason, 51, of Big Spring, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at her residence. No services will be held.
She was born Aug. 25, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas.
Survivors include her father and step-mother, James and Carolyn Thomason of Hemphill, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Thomason, and her sister.

Kathryn K. "Kathy" Stewart, 63, of Stanton died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, in a Stanton nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, Stanton, with the Rev. Mike Harris, officiating.
She was born Aug. 25, 1949, in Stanton and lived in Martin County all her life, growing up in the Courtney community. She attended school at Courtney and Stanton, graduating from Stanton High School in 1967. She worked at Met Life and Custom Benefits until her retirement in 2011.

Joyce Ann Barrett, 78, of Coahoma died July 31, 2013, in her home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Coahoma Cemetery.
She was born March 11, 1935, to parents Samuel Hicks and Ruby Elliott in Coahoma, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Barrett Sr.; and brothers, Roger Hicks and Bobby Hicks.
David Ybarra Sr., 46, of Big Spring died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at his residence. Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Stanton.
He was born Aug. 19, 1966, in Fresno, Calif., to Mary and Jesse Ybarra. He worked in the oil field and was a two year member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring.
