Mathew Ryan Hernandez, infant son of Marie and Manuel Hernandez, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Lubbock. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Paul "Duane" Hillger, 72, of Garden City died Monday, May 20, 2013, in a Big Spring hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Garden City Cemetery in Garden City, Texas.
He was born Sept. 12, 1940, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Linda Sue "Suzie" Lawson on Jan. 4, 1968, in Midland, Texas.
Duane was raised in Martin County and farmed in Martin and Glasscock counties all of his life. He loved sports and hunting. His kids and grandkids meant the world to him. Duane served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mary Deanda Gomez, 89, of Austin, Texas, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at her home after a brief illness. Mary was born in Big Spring, Texas, and had resided in Austin since 1976.
Friends and family will remember Mary’s passion for gardening and flowers. From an early “Victory Garden” in the 1940s in Big Spring through her residences in New Orleans, San Antonio and Austin, Mary always nurtured and cared for her gardens as well as her family and children.
Thomas R. Shirley, 81, of Kingsland, formerly of Big Spring died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Kingsland, Texas. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. James "Jakie" Shirley, Tom's brother, officiating.
Tom will lie in state at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home from Tuesday until service time Thursday.
Robert "Tito" Vasquez II, 21, of Big Spring died Sunday, May 19, 2013, in Midland. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Deacon Johnny Arguello officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
He was born July 14, 1991, in Eagle Pass to Dora and Roberto Vasquez. He moved to Big Spring in 2005 from Eagle Pass. He had been a cook at Taco Villa and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Mary Bernice "Bun" Cason, 93, of Big Spring died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ivins, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the funeral home.

He was born Sept. 18, 1934, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Darlene Dabney on June 20, 1959, in Big Spring.
