Carl Bacon

Carl Bacon, 77, of Coahoma, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, with Rick Cunningham officiating.

Carl was born March 26, 1937, in Mitchell County, Texas and married Annita Thompson June 29, 1991, in Coahoma. He worked for Weaver Services in Snyder for more than 20 years and loved cabinetry. He was very proud of his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was a Christian.

Lena H. Marquez, 58, of Big Spring, died Tuesday April 22, 2014, at her residence. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bill Ivins officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

Michael Brown, 64, of Big Spring, died Monday April 21, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Chapel with Lloyd Wells, associate pastor of Spring Creek Fellowship, officiating.

He was born to Bennie Inez and Norman Odell Brown in San Bernardino, Calif. on June 28, 1949. He came to Big Spring three years ago from California. He was a carpenter and he enjoyed yard work, painting and odds and ends.

Ed Harvell

Ed Harvell, 65, of Canyon died Saturday, April 19, 2014.

Services were held Wednesday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating. Burial was in Dreamland Cemetery. Military honors were provided by DAV Chapter 26.

Ed was born Nov. 20, 1948, in Big Spring to Thomas and Elsie Harvell. He graduated from Coahoma High School and served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He attended West Texas State University, where he received his degree in music education. Ed married Sharon Allen on Aug. 13, 1970, in Canyon.

Enrique "Ricky" Sabedra Jr., 44, of Knott, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in a local hospital. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring.

He was born Jan. 6, 1970 in Edinburg, Texas. Ricky attended schools in Big Spring and Ackerly. He had worked for Lozano's Surity Bail Bond and the TA Travel Center. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar.

Albert Lee Ortega

Albert Lee Ortega, 46, of Big Spring, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at his residence.

He was born April 22, 1967, in Big Spring, Texas. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1985 and attended Aladdin Beauty College. He moved to Arizona in 2002 and returned to Big Spring in 2008.

Survivors include four brothers, Jose O. Ortega, Sammy Ortega and Rudy Ortega, all of Big Spring and Carlos Ortega of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Lou Ortega Puga of Big Spring; and numerous nieces and nephews.
