Lupe Aleman "Chita" Fierro, 91, of Barstow, formerly of Big Spring, Texas, died Monday, May 12, 2014, in a Pecos nursing home. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
She was born April 6, 1923, in Big Spring and married Frank Fierro Sr. He preceded her in death April 27, 1970. She loved to garden and cook.
Benito Hilario Jr., 58, of Big Spring died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Shirley Jean Rhea, 68, of Odessa, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Orpha Ruth Dennard, 87, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Hillview Manor in Goldthwaite, Texas. Graveside service was on May 7, 2014 at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery with Brother Doug Holtzclaw officiating.
Ruth was born Dec. 4, 1926 in Mills County to Clyde and Maggie Moreland Faulkner. She grew up in Goldthwaite and married Charles Dennard her senior year of high school on April 30, 1944.

Floyd William (Bill) Parsons Jr., a 1959 graduate of Big Spring High School, died May 1, at the age of 73 while hiking in a remote area of the Sonoran Desert he loved near Tucson, Ariz.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas, he served from 1964-66 in the Peace Corps in Bolivia and two years in the Teacher Corps in Rio Grande City, Texas. He later taught at the New York Institute of Photography and took freelance photos at the 1969 Woodstock rock festival, which he sold to The New York Times, Rolling Stone magazine and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Dorrace Williams, 89, of Big Spring died Sunday, May 11, 2014, in San Angelo, Texas. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Burial will be Wednesday at the Cheetham Cemetery at Sheridan, Texas.Â
Joan Barber Gainey, 80, of Big Spring, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at the First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Mark Lindsey, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Colorado City Cemetery, Colorado City, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Colorado City, Texas and married Harold Gainey Sept. 14, 1951, in Westbrook, Texas.
Joe "Old_Horse" Kerby, 67, of Sand Springs, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, in an Odessa hospital. Funeral services will be held at a later date.
He was born July 17, 1946, in Big Spring, Texas and married Jan Kerby Aug. 16, 1978, in Big Spring.
He was a lifelong resident of Big Spring and had worked for L.G. Nix Dirt Company for 28 years and Chapman Construction for 15 years. He also owned and operated Kerby Construction.
