Josefina Martinez, 52, of Big Spring died Thursday, Oct.16. 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel.
She was born Sept. 20, 1962, in Big Spring to Isabel and Pedro Martinez. She was a homemaker, a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and was a lifetime resident of Big Spring.
Our beloved husband, brother, Dad and Grandale entered Heavenâ€™s Gates and joined his Heavenly Father Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014. Larry Dale Worthan was born in the country outside of Levelland, Hockley County in Texas on Sept. 28, 1938, to Earl and Hazel Worthan. He was three months old before they traveled to town to take him to the doctor to register his birth and give him a name. For the first three months of his life, they called him Butch. When he was about five months old, the family moved to the farming communities of New Deal and Abernathy.
L. Dale Worthan, 76, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Dale was born Sept. 28, 1938, in Levelland, Texas, and married Isabel Garcia Dec. 25, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was long-time salesman for Bob Brock Ford.
Archie Gammons, 93, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at Odessa Regional Medical Center. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.
Evanell Moore, 83, of Big Spring died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Phillip Michael (Mike) Steward, 69, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away Oct 14, 2014. A memorial service will be held Friday Oct 17, at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Resthaven with Dr. Ken Horn officiating. Visitation will be today, Oct 16, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Resthaven, Lubbock. Honorary pallbearers are Don Stabeno, Craig Caudill, Joey Hyman, Charles Olson and Ramon Hernandez.
Alice Bell Stevens, 96, a former longtime resident of Abilene, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, in Big Spring, Texas.
Born in Oklahoma City, Okla., Alice was the daughter of Edith (Hale) and James Craib. Having lived most of her life in Abilene, she moved in 1994 to Big Spring where she was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Debbs Stevens; one daughter, Alberta Jean Stevens; two grandchildren; her parents and 10 siblings.
Sandra Jones-Roper, 62, of Richardson, formerly of Big Spring, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at her residence. A wake will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Pastor Holston Banks will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Kheltin Jayven Leonard, 12-day-old son of Chelsea Ferguson and Justin Leonard, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Methodist Childrenâ€™s Heart Hospital in San Antonio. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Memorial Park. Pastor Doug Shelley of East Side Baptist Church will officiate.
He was born Oct. 1, 2014, in Odessa, Texas.
Mildred Douglass, 94, of Big Spring, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Moore County Hospital in Dumas, Texas. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel. Pastor Lloyd Wells of Spring Creek Fellowship will be officiating.
She was born in Ada, Okla. on March 30, 2014. She came to Big Spring from Sylvester, Texas in 1956. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
She is survived by one daughter,Delores Payne of Amarillo; one son, Paul Douglass of Big Spring; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
