James Turner

James Turner, 86, of Big Spring, died Sunday July 20, 2014, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Cemetery in Borger, Texas.

He was born Dec. 17, 1927, to Peggy and Roy Lee Turner in Shamrock, Texas. He married Laura Martin on Nov. 14, 1954, in Corinth, Miss. He served 10 years in the United States Navy. He came to Big Spring in 2011. Before coming to Big Spring, he lived in Lubbock from 1981 to 2011.

Valentin Corralez, 76, of Big Spring, died Thursday July 17, 2014, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial following at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Dec. 16, 1937, in Cuchillo Parado, Chihuahua Mexico. He was a Catholic. He had worked for Clay and Lee Harris and more recently at Shroyer Motor Company. He married Margarita Mora in 1977.

Kenneth (Ken) Ray Large

Kenneth (Ken) Ray Large passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, while surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ken was born Aug. 14, 1932 to Obie and Cora Large in Leakey, Texas.

Jana Carter-Hector, 57, of Big Spring, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Tom Koger officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Nell Marie Coots

Nell Marie "Mama Nell" Coots, 97, of Stanton, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, in a Stanton nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

Nell was born Dec. 27, 1916 in Johnson Station, Miss. and married J. W. Coots Feb. 8, 1941, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death June 25, 1985. She worked in the cafeteria at Kentwood Elementary. She loved cooking, baking, traveling and being with her grandchildren.

Barzie Ray Fletcher passed away June 29 at the House of Hope. He was 87 years old — born Aug. 11, 1926.
He was born in Coahoma, Texas, to the late Carl and Velma Fletcher. He was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and one daughter, Judy Lyn Creel.
