Fidel Martinez, 57, of Big Spring died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.Â Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home
Wilmit Edward "Ed"Â Wilkerson, 85, of Big Spring, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Vealmoor, Texas, and married Patsy Lue Sherman Feb. 18, 1957, in Odessa, Texas.
He was a lifelong resident of Big Spring and worked as a plumber for 20 years, retiring in 1970. He served in the United States Army Air Corps and then in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952.

Patricia Jan Shepard, known to all of her family and friends as Jan, passed away at her home on March 4, 2014. It was a blessing to have her in our lives for 60 years. even though the time feels too short.
She was born to Doyle and Juanetta Dolan in Big Spring, Texas. Her siblings include Linda Wright, Jimmy and his wife Barbra Dolan, and Bobby and his wife Starr Dolan.
Ronald Keith Long Sr. 59, of Big Spring, passed from this life, Monday, March 3, 2014, in a local hospital. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. A private service will be held for the family.
Ron was born Feb. 3, 1955, in Pelham, Ga. to Roy and Mary Long and married Martha Corkery March 5, 1982, in Hobbs, N.M.
Vivian Marie "Yahntquese" Whitetree Ward, 69, of Odessa, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, in a Houston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring, with Glenn Jones and Don Galloway officiating. nterment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Claremore, Okla. and married William C. Ward Jr. (Bill) Sept. 29, 1973, in Big Spring.
The Rev. John Jenkins Lewis, 96, passed away on Feb. 27, 2014, at his residence. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater, Texas, with Pastor Homer Reddic and Pastor Houston McLendon officiating. A wake will be held 11 a:m. until service time Saturday, March 8, 2014, at McCoy Funeral Home. Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Dorothy Rae Derr-Jones, 84, of Big Spring passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at her residence. She was born to Ray Boone and Doris Wright Pennington March 20, 1929, in Pearsall, Texas.
Her education included Abilene Christian High School and Texas Tech University.
Dorothy moved to Big Spring in 1976, where she continued her career in real estate. She was an active member of the Howard County historical commission and the Permian Basin historical society where she was a program participant sharing stories of her family's "Road Show".
Rickey Lee Williams, 57, of Big Spring, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Burial will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
He was born to Annie and Julius Williams Sept. 25, 1956, in Richmond, Calif.. He had been a resident of Big Spring for four years and was a Baptist. He was a longtime member of the He-Man Women Haters Club.
Elizabeth Garcia Jimenez, 72, of Big Spring, died Tuesday March 4, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Deacon Johnny Arguello officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
She was born April 17, 1941 to Margarita and Guillermo Garcia in Pope, Texas. She was a lifetime resident of Howard County. She worked 26 years as a seamstress for Walls Industries.
