Steven Wayne Brackett, 56, formerly of Big Spring, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. Dean Forrest, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Fourth and Scurry Street, Big Spring, Texas, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, with pastors Dr. Keith Wiseman and the Rev. Bill Ivins officiating. A reception will follow in Garrett Hall.
Dean, son of W.H. and Jewell Forrest, was born Nov. 22, 1927, in the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Tom Rogers. He was a lifetime resident of Howard County, Texas.
W.C. â€śCurleyâ€ť Hayes, 91, of Cleburne passed away Dec. 24, 2011, following a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 27, 1920, in Linden, Texas, to Ira and Lois Hayes, Curley had three sisters, Bertha, Oleta and Oneta and two brothers, Joe and Doyle. He wed Rita Duren in Big Spring, Texas, on Aug. 4, 1943.
Robert E. Dalsing Sr., 46, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, in a Snyder hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Ron Sears officiating. Graveside services will be at noon Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
He was born Oct. 20, 1965, in Independence, Kan., and married Robyn Watson on Aug. 27, 1987, in Olathe, Kan.
Robert was currently serving as the pastor at Birdwell Lane Baptist Church in Big Spring and as a chaplain with Howard County.
Dr. Carl Allen Dillaha, 87, of Fluvanna, Texas, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, Texas, after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services for Dr. Dillaha will be held Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Hilllside Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dana Mayfield officiating under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Funeral Home.
Dr. Dillaha was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Little Rock, Ark., to Carl A. and Thelma (Cashion) Dillaha. He spent his school years in Little Rock and graduated high school in 1942.
Emma C. Thwing, 77, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Lincoln Hills Healthcare Center in New Albany, Ind.
She was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Big Spring, Texas, to John and Frankie Tucker. Emma was a member of Silver Street United Methodist Church in New Albany and Epsilon Sigma Alpha International.
Oscar Hilario, 53, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Axel Chavez officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1958, in Big Spring, Texas, and was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He worked as a dietary cook for Parkview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation and other nursing homes in town.
Albert Dean Forrest, 84, of Big Spring died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
