Clarence Hartfield, 94, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, in a local hospital. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
SWEETWATER â Cora Lee Jernigan, 85, of Abilene, formerly of Sweetwater and Big Spring died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with interment to follow at the Sweetwater Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Cora was born Jan. 24, 1926. She married Ollie Brint âShortyâ Jernigan on Dec. 2, 1941, in Burnet County, Texas.
She is survived by three sons, Chester Jernigan of Goldsboro, Texas, Johnny Jernigan of Tuscola, Texas, and Buster Jernigan of Chicago, Texas.
Hubert âCharlieâ Green
Hubert âCharlieâ Green, of Mims âLake Oâ Pines,â passed away at Longview Regional on Saturday, Oct 1, 2011.
Charlie was born Jan 17, 1943, in Corpus Christi, to Hubert and Ruth (Hall) Green.
He was a mechanic most of his life, but also loved to fish and aggravate.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Kay Green, brother, Bob Green, four sons: Brandon, Colt, Jerry, and Darrell; seven grandchildren: Kaylee, Allyson, Areanna, Riley, Ryan, Tyler, and Lindsey; three great-grandchildren: Tinsley, Mckenzie, and Kaden.
Ruth Holcombe, 82, of Mineral Wells, formerly of Stanton, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, in Mineral Wells. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Stanton with the Rev. David Harp, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.
She was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Cooper, Texas, and married Kenneth Holcombe on April 8, 1950 in Courtney, Texas. He preceded her in death July 2, 1998.
Walter âAmosâ Jones
On Oct. 5, 2011, with the setting sun a great man left this world to be with God.
Walter (âAmosâ) Cameron Jones, born on Nov. 10, 1931, was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.
Amos was a retired assistant chief of the Corpus Christi Fire Department, serving as the fire marshal in fire prevention. He faithfully served the fire department for 46 years.
During the Korean conflict, Amos served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Champlain.
He was a graduate of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, with a bachelorâs degree in education.
Gary F. Thurman, 65, of Sand Springs, was born on Jan. 20, 1946, in Seymour, Texas and passed from this world into a better place on Oct. 10, 2011. A private internment will be held at a later date.
Gary married Sharon Williams on Jan. 20, 1971, in Breckenridge. He was a carpenter and he and his wife did remodeling for many families in the area for over 20 years. Gary was proud of his service in the U.S. Air Force. He will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
Robert L. âBobâ Lebkowsky passed away at 84 on Oct. 6, 2011, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was a very kind man with a big heart who loved his many friends and family. His quick wit, sense of humor and ability to tell stories brought smiles and laughter to those close to him.
Bob was born to A. K. and Florence Lois Lebkowsky in Haskell, Texas on Oct. 30, 1926.
Sadly, my beloved husband, our beloved father and grandfather, Floyd Martin, 79 years old, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011. He was surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and friends during his last days.
Ken Harris, 70, of Big Spring, formerly of San Angelo, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Chaplain Scott Jimenez officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
