ARLINGTON — Florentino Ariaz Doporto Jr., 62, a retired U.S. Army first sergeant, passed away unexpectedly in his hometown of Big Spring, on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mansfield. Interment will follow at 1:45 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington.
COLORADO CITY — Mr. Pete Orona, age 51, of Colorado City, died Tuesday in a Stanton hospital. Services will be Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow at Mitchell County Cemetery. There will be a Rosary at the Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at 7 p.m. All arrangements will be under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Luis James Vasquez, 44, of Big Spring died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Bob Miears, 67, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Chaplain Dean Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

Susan Ann Cassidy, 53, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Bell Ave. Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Logan, pastor, officiating.
Della Annie Davis Brooks, 93, of Loop, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at her daughter's home in Coahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at the Loop Baptist Church in Loop, with Brother James Shelton, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Loop Cemetery.
Kathy Barg, 61, of Big Spring died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Shelley and the Rev. Jeff Davison officiating.

Grover C. Shanks Jr. died Jan. 5, 2011. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Sunset Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, with Johnny Touchstone, Edmond Wheeles and Weeks DuBose officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Cemetery at 3 p.m. Saturday in Big Spring.
