Derwood Zant, 96, of Greenwood, formerly of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at his residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Ruby Phillips

February 23, 2012

Ruby Phillips, 87, of Garland, formerly of Big Spring died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Baylor Medical Center at Garland. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Westbrook Cemetery with the Rev. Joey Bacon officiating.

She was born July 12, 1924, in Mitchell County, Texas. She was a homemaker and had worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas. She had lived in Garland since 1965. She was a Baptist.

Gregory William Flynn

Gregory William Flynn, 52, passed away Feb. 18, 2012, at N.E. Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Flynn was born Sept. 3, 1959, in Trinidad, West Indies, to William and Monica Flynn. Greg attended Presentation College, San Fernando, Trinidad. He moved to the Untied States in 1981.

Betty Nell Petree Wagley

Betty Nell Petree Wagley, 68, of Bedias, Texas, formerly of Crosby, Texas, died Feb. 6, 2012. Betty was born July 3, 1943, in Brownwood, Texas, to Riley Glenn and Georgia Mae Petree. She grew up in Stanton, Texas.

Before moving to Bedias, she worked for the Crosby Independent School District as a bus driver for 17 years.

She is survived by three children, Paula Parsley, Enoch Wagley and Anthony Wagley; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Caryl Henderson; a brother-in-law, Larry Henderson; and a brother, David Petree, all of Big Spring. Texas.

Juanita Moreno Marquez

Our beloved mother and grandmother answered her final trumpet call on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the age of 86. She has gone home to be with our Heavenly Father, and to rejoice with family who has gone before her.

Emma Dean Baggett

Emma Dean Baggett, 101, formerly of Big Spring and mother of James Michael Baggett and Janice B. Deats, died Feb. 15, 2012, at the Pine Harbour Assisted Living Facility in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Baggett.

Born April 1, 1910, in Decatur, Texas, Emma taught kindergarten and trained kindergarten teachers for 30 years at First United Methodist Church in Big Spring. She also served as secretary to Dr. Anthony Hunt, former president of Howard College.

Bertram Warner, 91, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.

Gary Shane Ringener

Gary Shane Ringener, 36, of Lubbock died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in a Lubbock hospice facility. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Shane was born Feb. 26, 1975, in Lamesa, Texas.
Survivors include his mother, Letha Ringener of Madill, Okla.; brother, Larry Wayne Ringener of Lubbock; and four aunts.

Leland Calvert

Leland Calvert, 81, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012. He was born April 9, 1930, to Willie and Thelma Calvert in Spur, Texas.
Leland served in the U.S. Army, farmed in Spur, Texas, and retired from the postal service, where he was a supervisor in Big Spring, Texas. He moved to South Texas after retiring to Lakewood to pursue his interest in fishing, gardening and hunting. He enjoyed his retirement, traveling and being with his family, especially his grandson.
Leland was a loyal Presbyterian and served as an elder in the churches in Big Spring and Goliad.
