Charles Peugh, 72, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, in a local nursing home. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.

Nell Beard

Nell Beard, 91, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Dr. Doug Shelley, pastor of Eastside Baptist Church, officiating.
She was born to Hettie and James Leming on April 28, 1923, in Wilson, Okla. She spent most of her life in Big Spring. She was as a homemaker and a waitress.
She is survived by one sister, May Ann Bishop of Big Spring; and one niece.

James 'Jim' Reese

James “Jim” Reese, 83, of Big Spring, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Jim was born in Leaky, Texas, on Dec. 23, 1930, to James and Ruby Hill Reese. He lived in Leaky until the age of 16 when the family moved to Camp Mystic, a girls’ camp in Hunt, Texas. He lived there until Sept. 13, 1948.

James “Jim” Reese, 83, of Big Spring, died Monday, August 4, 2014 in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

Jim was born in Leaky, Texas, December 23, 1930 to James and Ruby Hill Reese. He lived in Leaky until the age of 16 when the family moved to Camp Mystic, a girls’ camp in Hunt, Texas. He lived there until September 13, 1948.

Averill Hale Badgett “MaMaw,” 90, of Andrews, passed away Monday, Aug.4, 2014. The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Alamo Heights Baptist Church in Midland. Burial will follow at Resthaven North in Midland.

Joseph LaMartina

Joseph LaMartina, 89, died Saturday at home in Garden City. He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Thomas and Josephine LaMartina, who came to America from Sicily, Italy, through Ellis Island. Joe had eight brothers and sisters who were all first generation Americans.

Paul Merrell

Paul Merrell, 61, of Big Spring, died Saturday Aug. 2, 2014. Private family services will be at a later date.

He was born to Angela Elizabeth and Henry Floyd Merrell in Big Spring March 13, 1953. He married Tina Rotenberry in Big Spring in November 1976. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He worked all his life as a roughneck in the oilfield.

He is survived by his daughter Melissa Merrell of Midland, Texas; one sister Elizabeth Rasmus of Atlanta, Ga., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother David Merrell.

Fabian Rios, Jr., 18, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
He was born Aug. 26, 1995, in Odessa, Texas and attended Big Spring schools.

Codine 'Dena' Bollinger Walden

Codine “Dena” Bollinger Walden, 97, died Saturday in a Lubbock nursing home. Due to family illnesses, funeral services have been postponed until 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.

H.C. Rowden, 80, of Big Spring, died Monday Aug. 4, 2014, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Memorial Park with Eddy Pitchford of Coahoma Church of Christ officiating.

He was born June 10, 1934, in Big Spring to Ocie Magdalene and Charlie Lee Rowden. He was a lifetime resident of Howard County. He was a retired plumbing contractor and a member of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ.
