Back for more: Garden City opens title defense against Robert Lee in six-man bi-district matchup

GARDEN CITY — Garden City running back Josh Colunga provided words to live by as the Bearkats defend their six-man Division I state championship.

“I want another ring,” he said. “The best ring is the next one. That’s what we’re trying to go for. That’s our goal this year. Try to tell everyone we’re still No. 1.”

If they already haven’t, the Bearkats have the opportunity to continue proving they’re the team to beat against Robert Lee at 7:30 p.m. today at Robert Lee High School in Robert Lee in bi-district playoff action.

Forsan cross country hoping to make history at state

FORSAN -— Forsan cross Country coach Robert Hillger is excited he’s taken eight boys and one girl to the state meet Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock — the most the program has ever had.

What’s more exciting to him, though, is the fact all of them are coming back for at least one more season.

“It’s very exciting,” Hillger said of taking nine Buffs to state Saturday, “and not to mention, we don’t graduate anybody.”

Seven HC baseball players sign national letters of intent

Seven members of the Howard College baseball team signed national letters of intent Wednesday. Howard College will be represented in some of the primer programs in the country next baseball season.
