Getting off to a good start was one of the main objectives for the Big Spring Lady Steers in Tuesday’s game against Fort Stockton in Steer Gym.
How’s a 17-1 run for starters en route to a 60-18 win?
“We talked about that since the last game,“ BSHS head coach Mike Warren said. “We got good shots against their zone just passing the ball around and inside to Cerbi Ritchey, inside to Diamond Mayes. That opened up stuff on the outside.”
Cliff Thompson joked that right now would be a good time to retire. After all, he would retire undefeated as the Big Spring boys’ basketball coach at 1-0.
Then he quickly noted that winning just feels too good.
The Steers upended Fort Stockton for a season-opening 69-33 for Thompson’s first win as Big Spring’s head coach. If the Steers can continue to improve, Thompson just might have the chance to get used to winning.
