November 13th
PLAINVIEW â By the middle of Coahomaâs bi-district playoffs game against Spearman Friday in Plainview, the Bulldogs knew if they were going to win, it was going to be in comeback fashion.
All the pieces started fitting together for that to happen, too. Jason Martinez punched the ball in for a score to cut the Lynx lead to 13, Coahomaâs defense forced a three-and-out on the next drive and suddenly, the Bulldogs were driving down the field for a second score.
SEMINOLE â Stanton is known for defense and physical play in the trenches.
The Buffaloes still had that in their 30-6 win over Abernathy Friday in Seminole in bi-district playoff action. They just had the passing to go along with it.
âWe didnât know what to expect in a first-round playoff game,â Stanton head coach John Peterson said. âEverybodyâs hungry to stay in the playoffs. Abernathy did a great job of trying to take away our run, so we adjusted a little bit, started throwing the ball.â
The Grady Wildcats knew they had to accomplish two things in order to win their six-man playoff game with Ira â they had to capitalize on their scoring opportunities and they had to contain Iraâs Lance Morris.
Unfortunately for the âCats, they didnât succeed on either front and ended up dropping a 56-43 decision Friday night in Memorial Stadium.

ROBERT LEE â When Robert Leeâs Foster Allen caught a 6-yard pass from Justin Gartman to give the Steers a 16-14 lead over defending state champion Garden City, the emotion and excitement was clear on their sideline.
But the composure and calmness was evident on Garden Cityâs sideline.
Thanks to key picks, big runs from Josh Colunga and a stout second-half defensive performance, the Bearkats fought off an early rally from Robert Lee to thump the Steers 66-20 in bi-district playoff action Thursday in Robert Lee.
COAHOMA â Coahoma head coach Trey Gardner describes playoff time like some children describe their favorite holiday.
After all, he has said making it to the playoffs is like Christmas coming early for him.
But the Bulldogs are hoping the joy doesnât end so soon when they take on Spearman in bi-district playoff action at 8 p.m. today in Plainview.
Coahomaâs last appearance in the playoffs was in 2007, but their last win was in 2003.
STANTON â The playoffs were already in hand, but Stanton didnât want to end the season with a loss at Anson. It looked like the Buffaloes were going to have to abort that plan, down 15 at halftime.
The Buffs never wavered though, scoring 36 unanswered points in the second half to win in Week 10.
LENORAH â Things are already tough for Grady as the bi-district round of the UIL state football playoffs begin.
The 10-0 Ira Bulldogs will aim to end the Wildcats' playoff run immediately at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium here in Big Spring.
Sounds like a tall order for the Wildcats to knock off a team that hasn't lost all season, but head coach Brad Cox isn't rattled by the thought of facing an undefeated team to start the playoffs.
He and the Wildcats are excited and, honestly, accustomed to having to beat the odds.

GARDEN CITY â Garden City running back Josh Colunga provided words to live by as the Bearkats defend their six-man Division I state championship.
âI want another ring,â he said. âThe best ring is the next one. Thatâs what weâre trying to go for. Thatâs our goal this year. Try to tell everyone weâre still No. 1.â
If they already havenât, the Bearkats have the opportunity to continue proving theyâre the team to beat against Robert Lee at 7:30 p.m. today at Robert Lee High School in Robert Lee in bi-district playoff action.
FORSAN -â Forsan cross Country coach Robert Hillger is excited heâs taken eight boys and one girl to the state meet Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock â the most the program has ever had.
Whatâs more exciting to him, though, is the fact all of them are coming back for at least one more season.
âItâs very exciting,â Hillger said of taking nine Buffs to state Saturday, âand not to mention, we donât graduate anybody.â
Seven members of the Howard College baseball team signed national letters of intent Wednesday. Howard College will be represented in some of the primer programs in the country next baseball season.
