Biggs leads WTC past Hawks for 88-77 win

January 25, 2011

SNYDER — No one was bigger than Deverell Biggs in Western Texas College’s 88-77 win over Howard College Monday.

The guard’s 31 points powered the Westerners past the Hawks, but Howard College head coach Mark Adams isn’t quick to forget the other four players who scored in double figures against his team.

“It was a great team effort so you’d hate to give too much credit to one player when the team played so well,” he said.
Biggs was 10 of 14 from the field, 5 of 8 from the 3-point line and a thorn in the Hawks’ side all night.

HC women fight back for win over WTC

SNYDER — The Howard College women’s basketball team had reason to be encouraged at the end of a sloppy first half against Western Texas College, considering the Lady Westerners weren’t doing much better.

That was because the Hawks’ defense stayed steady throughout Tuesday’s game, and once the offense woke up, Howard College had a firm grip on the game.
