Lady Steers remain undefeated

The Big Spring Lady Steers basketball team is off and running, winning their first two games of the young season. The girls defeated Abilene Cooper 40-27 this weekend in a game which relied heavily on the defense skills of Big Spring.

The Lady Steers got into a bit of foul trouble early in the game, but fought their way through it to claim a tough road victory, remaining undefeated.

Bridgette Tuitt led the Lady Steers with 12 points, followed closely by Mackenzie Stone with nine, who knocked down three 3-pointers for Big Spring.

The Big Spring Junior High tennis teams placed first and second in the Midland Christian tennis tournament this weekend.

The seventh grade team finished with a second place team total, with several top individual finishers. Brandon Hilario was the consolation winner in boys singles and Morgan Parnell took first place in the girls singles action. Jonathon Byrd took third place for the boys, while Sean Rios and Brett Cervantez took second in boys doubles.
