The Big Spring Steers are trying not to put too much pressure on themselves as today’s area championship matchup against No. 4 Kenndale at 8 p.m. in Breckenridge approaches.
After the Steers won Tuesday’s bi-district playoff game against Bowie, head coach Cliff Thompson mentioned if Big Spring beats Kennedale, there won’t be any movies made labeling it as the greatest upset of all time.
The message has been simple: Don’t be nervous, just believe.
Howard College women’s basketball head coach Earl Diddle clearly was in a better mood by the end of Thursday night than he was before the regular season finale against Frank Phillips College started.
At one point, all he knew was New Mexico Junior College and Odessa College needed to lose and his team had to win if the Hawks wanted to return to the Region V Tournament. They could only control the latter.
However, with all the odds in the world against them, the Hawks took care of business and so did New Mexico and Odessa’s opponents. By the end of the night, Diddle was a happy man.
