BSHS baseball takes care of Brownfield

March 9, 2011

It wasn’t exactly a night full of offense for Brownfield and Big Spring in their matchup Tuesday at Steer Park.

Big Spring third baseman Jacob Acosta changed all that with one swing, though.

Acosta’s three-run RBI double sparked a five-run third inning as the Steers went on to beat the Cubs 12-2 in five innings.

The Steers were up 3-1 before Acosta’s blast to left field, but they hadn’t had an extra base hit. Ascota’s double went past the Brownfield left-fielder and Gunnar Kennedy, Jared Deporto and Max Pappajohn were sent home. The Steers went from a 3-1 lead to an 8-1 lead.
