Garden City takes 10-1A golf titles

April 5, 2011

Golfers from Garden City and Sands overcame not only the course, but Mother Nature as well, at the District 10-1A tournament at Big Spring Country Club Monday.

Garden City won both the boys' and girls' team and individual titles, while Sands placed second in the boys' bracket. Those three squads advance to the Region II-1A tournament, scheduled for Shady Oaks Country Club in Baird April 18-19.

Paced by the trio of Hayden Halfmann, Brian Hirt and Austin Hoelscher, Garden City won the boys' division by 61 strokes over runner-up Sands.
