A Hawk Send Off will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the women’s residence hall on the Big Spring campus for the Region V Champion Hawk softball team.
After sweeping the Region V regional tournament, the Hawks softball team has earned a trip to the NJCAA Division I softball national tournament in St. George, Utah.
All Hawk softball fans are invited to come to the send off and show their Hawk spirit.
Tournament play will begin May 19 and carry through May 21. All of the latest updates and information on the Hawks will be available at www.hchawk.com.
Forsan High School, fresh off a bi-district title, will take on a tough Bushland squad at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lubbock Cooper.
The best-of-three area playoff will continue with a second game at noon Friday at the same location, followed by a third game — if necessary — 30 minutes after Game 2.
“They went to the state tournament last year, so they are a solid team all-around,” Forsan Coach Jason Phillips said this morning. “They hit the ball really well. We are going to have to play one of our best games and I think if we do that, we have a good chance to win.”
LUBBOCK — A day after suffering their first loss in the Region V Baseball Tournament, Howard College's Hawks clawed their way back into contention.
In a day- and night-long affair at Dan Law Field here Tuesday, the Hawks first defeated Midland College 14-13 in 13 innings, then rallied in a late evening game to upend Weatherford College 6-1 in 15 innings.
With those victories, Howard has the opportunity at some revenge. At 1 p.m. today the Hawks were to take on New Mexico Junior College — the team that beat them 5-1 on Monday.
