LUBBOCK — Just as he did in 2010, Big Spring High School’s Mike Menefield will compete in two events at the upcoming state track and field meet in Austin.
Menefield qualified for the state meet by placing first in the triple jump and second in the long jump at the Region I-3A meet, which concluded Tuesday in Lubbock.
After winning the triple jump during the first day of the regional meet Monday, Menefield recorded a distance of 22 feet, 1.25 inches to place second in the long jump Tuesday.
LUBBOCK — All track season, Brigette Tuitt and Desiree Anderson have been counted on to provide leadership to the Big Spring High School girls’ track team.
Tuesday, the duo led BSHS to the team title at the Region I-3A track meet in Lubbock.
Tuitt collected four gold medals and a silver, while Anderson netted three gold medals and a silver to lead the Lady Steers, who scored 98 points to easily out-point runner-up Abilene Wylie.
