CTLGA increases numbers

Monday morning, the Comanche Trail Ladies Golf Association held a low-ball team tournament which showed two teams ending the day in a tie for first place. Shirley Long, Jo Ann Hilger and Annie Ward comprised the first team, while the second winning team was made up of Mary Gilbreath, Ramona Weaver and Dee Jenkins. The two teams each finished the nine-hole round with a score of 43.

A stroke behind the two leaders was the team of Betty Murphy, Trish Gabbard and Gus Leonardi with a 44-stroke round. Ward and Gabbard tied for the lowest number of putts for the day.

Birdwell Baptist bests all bowlers

John and Diana Dodd, proprietors’ of Big Spring Bowl-A-Rama, presented a $500.00 check to Pastor Rob Dalsing and the members of Birdwell Lane Baptist Team for capturing the crown as League Champions at the bowling alley recently.

During the entire 10 week event, despite being in 5th place at the end of week three, with only seven weeks remaining, they never became discouraged or lost their positive attitude of “we can do it”.Asit turned out, they were right.

CTLGA changes tournament time

The Comanche Trail Ladies Golf Association met again this last week at the course for a little golf. In the individual play Monday, Joan Daniels recorded the low gross, while Shirley Long had the lowest net score. Betty Murphy had the fewest putts among the ladies.
Thursday, the ladies were joined by the men for a couples tournament. First place went to the team of Jimmy Foresyth, Deanna Foresyth, Joe Sharpnack and Patsy Sharpnack. The team came in four strokes under par during the nine hole outing.

courses host local tourneys

Comanche Trail Golf Course is hosting its City Golf Championship tournament July 30-31. The tournament will be open to any Howard County resident or current annual member of CTGC or Big Spring Country Club. The field will be divided into three divisions: Women’s, Men’s and Men’s Senior (55 or older).
Men must declare themselves eligible for the Championship Flight before play begins. Flights will be determined after Saturday’s (July 30) rounds are completed. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of each flight.
