After being pushed around for most of the second half of their game against South Plains, the Howard College women's basketball team decided it was time to start pushing back.
The Hawks shook off a recent history of second half collapses and halted a three-game losing streak at the same time, dominating the final minutes en route to a 57-50 victory over the Lady Texans at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum Thursday evening.
For 37 minutes, the Howard College men's basketball team were able to hold onto hopes of upsetting the top junior college team in the nation.
In the final three minutes, however, South Plains College showed how it had attained such a lofty ranking.
The top-ranked Texans survived an early Howard blitz, then dominated the closing minutes to take a 72-70 win over the Hawks at Garrett Coliseum Thursday night.
