SAN ANGELO — Big Spring's Senior League All-Stars were eliminated in their second match-up against San Antonio Capitol Park on Saturday by a score of 10-1 at the Texas Sports Complex, but the 15 and 16-year olds comprising the squad can hold their heads high. The team finished third in the entire state and put together the longest postseason run of any Big Spring Little League roster on record.

In Saturday morning's elimination game against South Garland, Adam Franco engaged in a pitching duel with the opposing hurler. The offense began making noise in the fifth.

Raines has spent the past couple of years on the administrative side of things at Howard, but basketball is in his blood. Raines was originally hired as an assistant to Adams and has served in various coaching capacities during his time in Big Spring.

July 8, 2013

CHILDRESS — Every Big Spring Senior League All-Star picked up at least one hit and one RBI Saturday as they competed in the 15-16-year-old sectional finals, a best-of-three series against the hometown Childress All-Stars.

But Big Spring only needed two games to claim the title.
A 22-4 rout in Game One and a narrow, 2-1 victory in Game Two gave the seniors a sweep, as well as a state chmapionship berth in their age bracket.

July 1, 2013

Not only did the Big Spring Senior League All-Stars win the District 3 All-Star Tournament after a 13-8 victory over Midland High on Saturday at Steer Park, they went undefeated against the best lineups in the region throughout the week.

Trevor Williams started on the mound for Big Spring in the championship game, with the offense quickly racking up three runs to back him up. Gary Watkins came in to relieve Williams when a run was walked in during the top of the third, but Midland got to Watkins as well and took a 4-3 lead.
