Big Spring defense manhandles Gainesville

November 15, 2014

ALEDO – When the Gainesville High School Leopards looked at the statistical numbers associated with the Big Spring High School Steers, they probably got all giddy and developed a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
Garrett Wigington and Manuel Galvan helped the Steer defense turn that feeling into one of disappointment and despair on a cold Friday night at Bearcats Stadium. The two helped turn a dominating defensive effort by the Steers in the first half into a thrilling 35-17 victory in the Class 4A Division bi-district state playoffs – and a return trip to the second round.

Steers strip Brownwood in finale

November 8, 2014

Nathan Schneider didn’t think too much about the situation when Brownwood’s Harley Price ducked his head and pushed his way into a pile in an effort to get a few extra yards. He only knew one thing, with his team trailing with 9:25 left in the game the Steers desperately needed the ball.
Thus, when Price didn’t go down, Schneider decided to try and strip the ball from the running backs’ hands.
