Howard College head coach Scott Raines didn’t mince too many words when discussing his team’s performance on Tuesday against New Mexico Military Institute. The best way to describe ugly is to call it ugly.
And it was ugly.
But then again, even an ugly win is a win.

The Big Spring Steer’ playoff hopes are still alive.
Big Spring, backed by a solid outing from Ty Sealy, kept its dreams of earning a berth in the Class 3A state basketball playoffs alive and healthy on Friday by pounding out a nail-biting 53-50 win over the Greenwood Rangers.

The Greenwood Lady Rangers did what few teams have managed to do this season. They slowed the Big Spring Lady Steers’ offense to a crawl.
Greenwood limited 17th-ranked Big Spring to just eight points in the first half on Friday and rolled to a stunning 35-26 victory in a key District 4-3A matchup.

Mustangs roll past Coahoma

COAHOMA - The Denver City Mustangs posted a huge run over the final four minutes of the first quarter on Friday night and cruised to a 71-27 win over the Coahoma Bulldogs on Friday night in District 4-2A action.

JUCO champs set to return to HC

It’s been five years since the 2009 JUCO National Championship baseball team has been on the campus of Howard College but they are returning for a reunion this weekend. The 2009 champs will be reuniting for an exhibition game against the 2014 Hawks on Saturday, at 1 p.m.

Hawks, Lady Hawks to play big games with OC tonight

Make no mistake about it, there will be plenty of offense on display this evening when the Howard College men’s and women’s basketball teams take to the court at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum to face off against Odessa College.
There could also be a few changes in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference men’s standings when the smoke clears. The Howard College and Odessa College men enter tonight’s game tied for second in the WJCAC standings with 3-1 records.
