Steers qualify for regional track meet in 5 events

PECOS - Ryan Lopez never got in too big of a hurry during the first lap of the boys’ 800-meter run on Thursday at the District 2-4 Area Track and Field Championships at Rotary Field. He was perfectly content to let the other seven runners in the field set the pace for the first 500 meters of the race.
It was the last 300 that concerned him most.

HC women to host MC today

The Howard College Lady Hawks will begin their stretch run to the regional tournament this afternoon when they kick off a 4-game series with Midland College. The HC women will host the Lady Chaparrals this afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m. for two games at Foundation Field.

The Big Spring High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams could be in for an enjoyable day at the Area Track and Field Championships this afternoon in Pecos. The two teams head into the meet with a bevy of athletes that are favored to contend for victories in their respective events.

Forsan rallies for 5-4 win over Miles

The Forsan Buffaloes scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to complete a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Miles Bulldogs in front of a large crowd at the Forsan ISD field.

Downing leads BSJHS netters in Sweetwater

Robbie Downing walked away from the Sweetwater Junior High School Tennis Invitational with plenty to smile about. The Big Spring standout turned in a gold-medal effort en route to winning the girls’ singles division on Thursday, April 12.

Devin Roberson is headed to high school golf’s version of the Promised Land.
The Big Spring High School senior punched his ticket to the Class 3A state golf tournament on Thursday with a solid round on the final day of the Region I-3A Golf Championships at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock.

BSHS needs win in finale to clinch playoff berth

The Big Spring High School Lady Steers stood toe-to-toe with the Greenwood Rangerettes for three innings. Then, unfortunately, landed a knockout blow in the fourth and raced to a stunning 20-7 victory.

The Forsan High School Buffaloes and Miles Bulldogs will get the playoff atmosphere started a bit earlier this evening when they square off in a key District 6-A matchup in Forsan. The two teams enter tonight’s 7 p.m. showdown tied for the top spot in the district standings with identical 6-1 records.
