All-star teams win at tourneys

The Big Spring Little League all-star teams had a solid first-round showing on Saturday. Overall, Big Spring won two of its opening round matchups in District 3 tournaments.

While Dyrshae Vanderbilt and Ryan Lopez attempt to lead their Big Spring High School relay teams to wins ion Saturday, they won’t be the only Crossroads area athletes looking to claim medals when the 2014 University Interscholastic League’s state track and field meet gets under way on Friday. In addition to Big Spring, no fewer than 21 other area athletes will be competing in the Class A meets.

New board plans on tap

BSISD officials have scheduled a meeting for 10:30 a.m. on Monday in the west parking lot of Memorial Stadium to showcase a large-scale model of a proposed new scoreboard the district is considering.

Forsan to face Tahoka in area playoff game on Friday

The Forsan High School Buffaloes will be playing Tahoka in the area round of the Class A baseball playoffs ton Friday. The two will be playing a best-of-three series in Seminole. Friday’s game will begin at 6 p.m. Game 2 will start at 1 on Saturday. A third game, if necessary will begin 30 minutes after Game 2.
