Big Springâ€™s Tammy DePauw put on her best impersonation of Tiger Woods on Tuesday afternoon at the Permian Basin Ladies Association tournament at Ratliff Ranch Golf Club in Odessa.
The Big Spring High School boysâ€™ and girlsâ€™ track and field teams will be competing in the Midland Greenwood track meet this afternoon at the GHS track. The event will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a scratch meeting. The field events will get under way at 3:30 with the pole vault competition.
The Stanton High School Buffaloes grabbed the early lead at the 2014 District 4-2A Boysâ€™ Golf Championships earlier this week. The Buffaloes fired a 328 over the first 18 holes of the tournament and head into the final round with a 30 stroke lead over Denver City. The Coahoma High School boysâ€™ team is currently fifth in the team standings, 55 strokes behind Stanton with a team score of 383.
GREENWOOD - The Big Spring High School Steers scored two runs in the top of the 10th inning on Tuesday and claimed a tough 5-3 victory over the Greenwood Rangers in a key District 4-3A showdown.
The Greenwood High School Lady Rangers scored 10 runs in the third inning on Tuesday and raced to a 17-7 win over the Big Spring Lady Steers in District 3-4A action.
The Permian Panthers scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning on Tuesday and then held on to claim an 11-8 victory over the Big Spring Steers in a non-district baseball contest played in Odessa. The 5-run outburst broke open a 6-6 deadlock and dealt Big Spring its sixth straight loss.
The Coahoma High School Bulldogs had four players earn spots on the 2014 4-2A all-district basketball roster.
Junior Braxton Iden led Coahomaâ€™s selections, earning a spot on the first-team all-district roster. He was among the Bulldogsâ€™ top offensive and defensive players this season.
The Big High School junior varsity teams will be busy on Monday, March 17, as both squads will be in action.
The Forsan High School Lady Buffaloes had four players earn postseason honors earlier this month when the District 6-A all-district teams were announced. In all, 22 athletes were recognizes for the efforts by the coaches from the six teams in the district.
The Chicano Gold Association will be holding a 4-man scramble on March 23 at the Comanche Trail Golf Course.
