Big Spring clinches No. 4 seed with ‘play-in’ victory

COLORADO CITY - The Big Spring High School Lady Steers knew their entire season came down to 32 minutes when they walked onto the floor of “The Pit” at Colorado High School on Friday evening. Even though there was only a smattering of fans in the stands to watch, there was no way they were going to let four months of hard work, running and sweat end with just four quarters left.

Buffs upend No. 10 Smyer

The Forsan High School Buffaloes are primed and ready for the Class A state basketball playoffs. Just ask the Smyer Bobcats.
The Buffaloes, backed by a stifling second-half defensive effort, claimed one of its biggest wins this season on Friday by pounding out a thrilling 55-53 win over 10th-ranked Smyer in a key District 6-A, Division I, battle.

Steers set to play in Pecos tournament

The Big Spring High School Steers won’t waste much time before swinging into high school baseball tournament play once the season begins. Big Spring is one of six West Texas teams slated to participate in the 2014 West of the Pecos Wood Bat Classic on Feb. 20-22 in Fort Stockton.

Weather cancels 1st round of golf tournament

Cold weather and frozen greens at the Big Spring Country Club forced Big Spring ISD school officials to cancel today’s first round of the Big Spring Golf Tournament. The tournament was originally scheduled for today and Saturday.

Howard College games to start early

The Howard College men's and women's conference basketball games against South Plains College scheduled for tonight will be played at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum. Hawk Homecoming activities will continue as scheduled and the Homecoming Court will be presented between the two games tonight.
