The high school golf season may have come to an end for many of the stateâ€™s golfers, but Colton VerSteeg is one of the lucky ones. He gets to play on.
When senior Dyrshae Vanderbilt stepped across the finish line at the Honeybee Relays recently, she knew she and her teammates had just ran a really good time in the 4x400-meter relay. Just how good, she would learn later when BSHS head track coach Nick Roberson informed them they had broken the schoolâ€™s all-time record. The team ran a time of 3 minutes and 58.46 seconds and shattered the previous school-best by almost a full second.
The District 4-3A Track and Field Championships will be held on April 7 and April 10 at Blankenship Field on the campus of Big Spring High School. The top performers in each event will advance to the Area track meet on April 17 in Pecos.
The Forsan High School Lady Buffaloes continued their impressive hitting display on Tuesday evening by pounding out a 15-0 romp over the Hermleigh Lady Cardinals in a District 2-1A showdown at the FHS softball field.
The Big Spring Junior High School Lady Steers had a day people will remember for years to come on Saturday at the annual Key City Junior High Relays in Abilene. Mainly because much of it will be written in the record books.
The Big Spring Junior High School boysâ€™ and girlsâ€™ track and field teams will compete in the District 4-3A Junior High Track and Field Meet on April 5 in Snyder. The meet will be held the Snyder High School track.
Menâ€™s softball could be players from the Midland and Odessa area looking to restart themenâ€™s fastpitch league. Players and pitchers are being sought.
If the league forms, games would be played at Cotton Mize field.

Tyler Nairn came about as close to medaling at the 2014 Texas Powerlifting State Championships as humanly possible on Saturday at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene. Maybe even closer.
The Big Spring Steersâ€™ varsity track and field team won seven events, including the 4x200-meter relay, on Thursday and sprinted to the boysâ€™ team title at the Greenwood Invitational at King Memorial Stadium. The Steers rolled up 138 points in the meet and finished three points head of Greenwood. Stanton was a close third with 122.
Big Spring High School senior Kelsie Guinn is right where she wanted to be following the completion of the first round of the District 4-3A Golf Championships on Thursday afternoon at the Ward County Golf Course in Monahans - in first place.
