Kade Fannin turned in a personal-best performance and the Forsan defense put the clamps on Tahoka in the second half on Tuesday and powered the Buffaloes to a 69-54 win over the Tahoka Bulldogs in a key District 6-A, Div. I, showdown.
Howard College menâ€™s basketball coach Scott Raines didnâ€™t see anything flashy about his team on Thursday night. And that was perfectly fine by him.

Big Spring High School shortstop Valerie Goodblanket got the Lady Steersâ€™ 2014 preseason off to a memorable start on Thursday afternoon at the BSISD Softball Complex. She slapped the first pitch she saw over the centerfield fence and sparked Big Spring to a 14-8 romp over the Colorado Lady Wolves in their preseason scrimmage opener.
The way Valerie Goodblanket sees it, both she and the Howard College Lady Hawks got a good deal on Wednesday. She got to stay close to her roots, and the Lady Hawks got a good player.
Goodblanket officially signed on the dotted line on Wednesday afternoon, agreeing to play next season with the Lady Hawksâ€™ softball program. The Big Spring High School senior signed her Letter of Intent in a special ceremony in front of her family and friends in the BSHS foyer.
The Howard College Hawks have become accustomed to being ranked among the best in junior college baseball. Well, they should feel right at home this season.

FORSAN - The Plain Cowgirls knocked down a season-high 12 three-point shots on Tuesday and rallied for a 59-51 win over the Forsan Lady Buffaloes.
The Abilene Wylie Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early 21-3 lead and then weathered a hot-shooting performance from Julianna Rodriguez to claim a 72-46 win over the Big Spring Lady Steers on Tuesday in Abilene.
Ty Sealy pumped in 22 points on Tuesday and helped the Big Spring Steers turn in a gutsy effort against the fifth-ranked Wylie Bulldogs in Abilene. Unfortunately for the Steers, it wasnâ€™t enough.
